The Barn People

The Barn People are a small group of Vermont craftsmen that specialize in the professional relocation of vintage Vermont barn frames, and have been doing so since 1975. Our barns come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. All have been sympathetically dismantled, hand-washed, treated for insects, and meticulously restored. We also offer adaptation services which enable the new owner to utilize the vintage frame according to their specifications. We can also add lofts, wings, or shed additions utilizing beams that match in the color and character of the original frame.

Additional beams, framing materials, roof boards, and siding are offered as well. We are there to personally offload and reassemble every barn we offer, anywhere in the world. Our vintage barn frames are one-of-a-kind antiques. The pleasing proportions and simple, natural lines allow them to fit in anywhere and...look natural. The precision joinery, done by hands that took the time to do things right, have withstood the test of time and hard use. They possess a traditional natural beauty that cannot be duplicated. Due to the enormous adaptability of these frames, the possible configurations for personalized spaces are virtually unlimited.

Whether designing a dwelling space, addition, or "Great Room," there's nothing like an old hay barn. Commercial spaces work very well in the larger "high drive" or hillside barns. We also offer a large number of smaller barns for garden or pool houses, as well as back yard home offices.Wagon and carriage barns make wonderful garages with guest quarters or artist studios above in the loft. And many of our vintage barns have been used for, oddly enough...just barns. When thinking about vintage barns, The Barn People can offer you a well-informed choice to work with. After all, we are The Barn People.
