Forged Period hardware is the specialty of the Old Smithy Shop. Our reproductions of wrought iron hardware are forged and handcrafted by the Premier New England Blacksmith Franklin Horsley. His work shows the distinct details of a master blacksmith while maintaining the simplicity of authentic early American hardware.

The Grand New England Suffolk Latch pictured here is one of the many styles of Colonial Suffolk latches, as well as, Norfolk latches, thumb latches and a variety of Door Pulls that can be custom matched by Franklin Horsley to any Traditional hardware piece.

Pintle Strap hinges, Butt Leaf Strap hinges, Cocks Head Strap hinges, Dummy Strap and the classic H hinges and HL hinges are available with the authentic narrow barrel or the wide barrel.

Cabinet and furniture hardware such as Butterfly hinges are created in many styles including the simple Butterfly hinge to the half motice ornate Butterfly hinge, in addition to Foliated hinges, Rat Tail hinges, Cocks Head hinges, cabinet strap hinges, thumb pulls, drawer pulls and latches. Chest Pulls, Blanket Chest hinges, Closet Assemblies and latches are hand forged by our blacksmiths. Barn door hardware, garage door hardware, gate hardware, Dutch door quadrants, sliding bolts, cane bolts, shutter and window hardware with storm brackets are provided at the Old Smithy Shop. Fireplace cranes, trammels, trivets, hearth cooking utensils and finely forged Pipe Tongs will add ambience to the traditional setting.
