Sylva furniture and garden site furnishings draw on the rich history of garden design and on the symbolism of gardens and garden ornament. Sylva Designs are a hybrid of classical architectural elements and rustic furniture motifs.

MARY DICKEY and MARTHA GLOWACKI, owners of Sylva Designs, are artists with longstanding experience in the design and production of functional objects. Their understanding of the practical and aesthetic qualities of materials such as metal and wood, combined with their expertise in design make Sylva Garden pieces uniquely beautiful and functional.

Sylva pieces are designed, manufactured, and hand-finished to give you:

A LIFETIME INVESTMENT: Sylva uses high quality, durable materials such as bronze and ironwoods that will last. Furniture is solidly made in the tradition of antique metal garden furniture.

MAINTENANCE-FREE LIFE: Sylva pieces made in bronze do not need to be painted or sealed. The bronze patina will continue to become more beautiful as it weathers over time. The hardwoods used in the furniture are meant to weather naturally outdoors, to a gray color, and are rot-resistant. If desired, this wood can be sealed with an outdoor varnish to retain the original wood color.

TIMELESS DESIGN: Sylva's motto is, "New Design in an Old Tradition." Our pieces are meant to be cherished and handed down to the next generation. Sylva Designs are equally at home in a formal garden setting with geometric plantings, topiary, and parterres, or in a naturalized, more informal garden. Sylva benches and sculpture are also beautifully suited to garden rooms and conservatories.

TRADITIONAL QUALITY: Sylva site furnishings are designed, hand produced, and finished in Wisconsin by a group of artisans, using traditional bronze casting and fine woodworking techniques. Each piece is sent to you with a wish for a long and beautiful life in your garden.
