Authentic Designs

Manufacturer of Early American & Colonial lighting fixtures: brass, copper, terne metal & Vermont maple; interior & exterior mountings; CUL/UL-listed for wet & damp locations; lanterns, sconces, table lamps, chandeliers & pendants; custom work available.

Authentic Designs makes handcrafted, historically accurate lighting fixtures one at a time in our rural Vermont workshops. We specialize in Early American and Colonial designs, and we’re also skilled at fabricating lighting designs reproduced from (or inspired by) other styles and traditions. Sources for our designs include private collectors, historic buildings, New England restorations, museums, auction houses and antique dealers.

All of the chandeliers, sconces, wall lanterns, post lanterns, floor and table lamps which you see on this website were entirely built here in our workshops. Many manufacturers these days import their components, meaning that only the assembly is done locally. We however start from scratch using tools and machines that we have acquired, salvaged, and in some cases built ourselves over the years. We start with only the finest raw materials, including brass, copper, terne, and American-grown hardwoods. We take great care to ensure that the quality and durability of our lights are as lasting as the designs we recreate.

Custom orders are welcome. Interested in installing our lights overseas? Contact us to inquire about our international wiring options.
